532 N. 10th Street
East St. Louis IL 62201

(By car) From downtown St. Louis via the Poplar Street Bridge, take I-55/70 East to the 4th Street exit, which touches down on Broadway. Turn right and proceed past St. Mary’s Hospital to 10th Street. Turn left onto 10th and proceed north about four blocks to College; here 10th Street is renamed Katherine Dunham Place. Continue another two blocks on Dunham Place to Pennsylvania Avenue; the museum is on the corner. Turn right onto Pennsylvania and left into the parking lot behind the building.

The museum and its programs are operated by the Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts and Humanities, which promote research and training in those fields.

The museum houses two extensive collections: African and Caribbean folk and contemporary art reflecting Miss Dunham’s anthropological studies, and a broader set of materials documenting her life and work.
