Our rivers reach out in many directions.
The Confluence Greenway encompasses a fascinating spectrum of places and people. Each of them will bring unique ideas and contributions to the Greenway, which in turn will provide a variety of benefits to every individual and community involved. In the tradition of Lewis & Clark, the rivers give us the chance to be real pioneers. Ideally, the Confluence Greenway will be the first step in a larger bi-state greenway network: many wonderful recreation areas and historical landmarks would be joined to provide safe, convenient access for the first time.
Fortunately, we’re not starting from scratch, significant parts of the project already exist, such as the Gateway Arch, Eads Bridge, Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, Pere Marquette State Park, and Columbia Bottom. The Confluence Greenway will unite them, along with several more parks, trails, and other sites.
